WI Food Drive - 11 Bags
This is officially my favorite holiday!
I love the family that comes to town, the crowed house, football on the TV, kids playing and eating all day long. It is the only time of year that I eat my yummy Peas and Peanuts, guilt free indulgence of mounds of mash potatoes and my sister and I playing our traditional game of backgammon.
My Mom hosts Thanksgiving every year and there is something so wonderfully comforting about going over there and helping her in the kitchen. I love my Mom.
It is very cold here today - 63 degrees - perfect Turkey carving weather and let's not forget the Macy's Day Parade!
Like you, my list of what I am thankful for is endless but I would like to take this opportunity to thank God for all of His blessings!
Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving my blogger friends and family - it goes without saying that I am grateful for all of you!
Happy Thanksgiving all my fellow WI!!! God is so good I have so much to be grateful for this year! We officially adopted my two beautiful babies a month ago!! I have four beautiful healthy kids and the most amazing husband ever!!! I hope you all have the best Thanksgiving! Thanks Deedra for helping me keep my priorities straight. I have been praying so much for you on the adoption. #3
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed a thankful joyous Thanksgiving as I have. I have been away for a while and have kept up with my reading of posts but my November has been so crazy I really haven't had a chance to put in my two cents as I usually am not shy about doing. ;-) You Ladies are such an inspiration to me and make me laugh, smile, and sometimes cry as I read the posts you all leave. I do feel a kindred sense with all of you as weird as that may sound cuz most of you this is the only connection I have with you is here on this blog.
Deedra I too have adopted children and have been praying for your efforts at adoption. Our wait for my son Jack seemed like an eternity and now he's gonna be 7 yrs old. Time does march on that is for sure.
The early part of this month my family went on a little adventure all the way from NH to KY. A two day trip. We traveled with our 32' camper on board were 8 dogs, 5 pigs (of the guinea pig variety) 4 people and 1 fish. Let's just say I do not envy Noah at all!!! LOL
We sadly are losing our home. We have fought for 2 yrs to keep it and it's time to say enough is enough. Last year and this year my husband only worked about 1/2 of the year each year. He is in construction and work has been very scarce to say the least and next year doesn't look to be any better.
So our trip to KY was two fold we went to visit dear friends and to contemplate whether we should move there. We have prayed about it and we feel lead to make this move. (So hard to know what the Lord wants.) Our friends who live in KY are in the Army and will be stationed in Hawaii (talk about a rough tour of duty LOL) They have graciously offered to let us house sit for the 6 - 9 months that they are in Hawaii and so we are moving to KY the 28th of Dec. and starting a new chapter of our lives. So this month and next month are gonna be crazy with preparation for our move. I will miss my house but for the last two years it feels like we've lived to keep our house and to tell ya the truth it is somewhat of a relief to be able to just move on. And we will take this opportunity for my husband to pursue Ministry and take some on-line courses. So please pray for me Ladies because even though sometimes it feels like my world is coming apart. I do have so much to be thankful for 2 great healthy kids that the Lord hand picked just for me :-) a great husband and you wonderful Ladies to share my adventures with. BTW - I will always keep inventing no matter where the Lord leads me.
I'm sorry if I have gone on and on but I know the power of prayer and you Ladies have presented yourselves as a group that understands the power of prayer and so I am asking you to please keep me in prayer as well as our dear sweet WI sister Deedra. And may God bless you as well. :-)
Thank you all for your support and prayers,
Mary S
Happy Thanksgiving to all my WI friends! Tracy you've painted such a beautiful picture of the meaning of this special holiday. Thank you. Oh, Mary S. ...know that you are not alone! We too have had to let our house go as much as we love it. We sold it last month. It was a very hard decision, but it began representing something of an albatross after my husband took ill. We're still not quite sure where we will be going (and that causes me major insomnia), but I'm certain that we will be led in the right direction. So, while you're packing (ugh!!) think of me doing the same yucky chore...and know that better things lie ahead for you and your beautiful family in KY! With very best wishes, #16
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I am still full! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for opening up and sharing your stories - you will be in my prayers.
On a "Holiday" note, Mary, I want to get Guinea Pigs for my kids (ages 8 and 6) but not quite sure if it's a good idea. You have five. Any advice?
Thanks #16 for your words of encouragement. I am sorry to hear that you have suffered a similar fate. The hard thing is when you HAVE to not CHOOSE to move or sell or give up your house whatever wording it's all the same when it's not by choice.
ReplyDeleteAnd Tracy I am a breeder of Yorkie pups and guinea pigs so you have come to the right place for info on piggies. Now keep in mind I am very biased and in favor of piggies as a first pet for kids. I think to spare your other bloggers you can go to my website and read up on the piggies: www.TheHappyYorkie.com Just click on the tabs that are piggie related and I think all your questions will be answered. Of course it goes with out saying if you do still have questions I would be happy to help. :-)
I know it's after Thanksgiving but I'm sure you Ladies have many more Holiday gatherings and so I am including my recipe contribution:
Corn pudding
1 stick of butter (melted)
1 cup of sour cream
1 egg
1 can of cream style corn
1 can of corn
1 box of Jiffy corn muffin mix
1/2 cup of mexican cheese (topping)
I blend all the ingred. right in the 9 X 13 pan I am baking it in. Mix till well blended then top with cheese. Bake in a 350° oven for 20 min.
ENJOY!
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI am headed to your site now!!! And I'm making the recipe for our company Sunday - yum!
Tracy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words on my site. I know your kids will love their baby piggies. I just wanted to mention that you might want to reread the helpful hints tab on my site. I tweaked it this morning and I don't know if you checked it before or after my tweaks. Being a perfectionist can be exhausting.LOL Enjoy the corn pudding it is one of my favorites.
Hi #3,
ReplyDelete#9 here,sO sorry I've been MIA. I hand sculpt art dolls and I'm in my super busy season. At least it's a nice distraction from this loonnngggg wait. I think you had counted four but I know ofone more that doesn't have a number and she rarely posts. So,that's five that have executed contracts that I can count.
Have an amazing week everyone!

Hello #9 it is so nice to hear your OK!!! My mom used to make dolls! Wow you are a very talented lady to do this and invent! I'm very impressed with all your talent.
ReplyDeleteMary I have been praying for you and your family in this time! I hope your new journey brings you so much unexpected blessings and joy!!! :0)
I hope this week brings all of you great and amazing things!! Keep pushing ahead all of you incredible Women Inventors!!!! #3
Oops...forgot to tell you, Tracy. Two more grocery bags for the poor went to church on Sunday. :D #16
ReplyDeleteTracy,
ReplyDeleteWhat have you done? I tried that peas and peanuts. Oh my!! I am in trouble now!! They are sooo good!!!! Now they're calling me. LOL
#3 Thank you so much for your prayers. I know a lot of you Ladies are praying for me and I thank you I have a peace about my situation and am actually excited about the pending adventure. My son is homeschooled and I can't wait to log our trip and bring the map to life for him. My husband and I are currently working on a travling storage unit. He is incorporating one of our inventions in the storage unit we are building. Always the inventor! Best wishes to all.
Onward, ho!! How exciting, Mary! It sounds like your kids will look upon this as a great adventure. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I just put in an offer on an old house upstate...our house is sold and we need to find a place fairly quickly. I've been worrying so much - but once we know we have a place I'm sure we'll feel much better. We shall see. Mary, it really is possible to make lemonade out of lemons, don't you think? And I know that the lemonade may very well taste twice as sweet. Good luck to you and your family! #16
Things did not go well in court for us yesterday for our son with the adoption. I can't go into details, but keep us in your prayers.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I was thinking about taking my headband idea to one of the BIG headband manufacturers...what do you all think about that? Anyone best friends with the President of Goody? :)
Who else is shopping their idea? Any of you number (#16, #3, etc) ready to tell us your inventions?!?!?!?
Deedra
www.klipzon.com
Deedra I'm so sorry! My heart aches for you! I will be praying that a miracle will happen for you and your adoption.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm not friends with Goody!!! I wish I was my friend. I'm on a hold pattern on my invention(finance are to tight).
Your an amazing women I know great thing will come your way!!! :0) #3
Deedra! I WISH I knew someone who could help with your idea because I REALLY believe in it. I cannot believe all the headbands on the market now - some really cute innovative styles (and some really not-so-great ones, too). But none with your smart idea. And all the ladies in the office - including me - are wearing headbands but - always - they seem to come off mid-day because they hurt and create headaches. We NEED your product on the market!! It is such a good idea and the timing is so right.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I will say some prayers for you and your family. This must be very difficult for you. Bless you. #16
