Plans for Product X - Product X Blog

The Everything Marinator did not make it on Homemade Millionaire, Anthony Sullivan from Pitchmen decided to go it alone and did not bring on a new Pitch Person and now Pitchmen is cancelled and I sold Wear Your Manners...can you see where I am going with this?

Read on...

A month ago I decided to just play Happy Homemaker and throw in the towel on all of this "Pitchwoman" craziness but I just can't do it...I have to be creative in some way or another!

I did some digging on blogger and found, for the first time, a way to see how many visitors I get daily/weekly/monthly on Product X and I was shocked! We have thousands of people all over the world checking in here!

This inspired me and I have a plan...

For a little bit, Product X will be changing it's look until I can decide on something I really feel fits my new plan for this site...so bear with me...I have some fun things in store here!

OH! Most importantly, I purchased the domain name www.productxblog.com so it'll be even easier to log on here...see you soon!

GOD Bless your little one Deedra.

  13. OH Girls, I wish it was more exciting than that...I sold the remainder of my WYM tees...you all are so sweet to think it was something wonderful! :) I still own the business but I am finally out of stock! I sold them to someone who donated them to a shelter for abused woman and children so I made a little cash and a good deed was done...

  14. I had hoped it was something wonderful for you but, you know Tracy, if you stop to think about the kids who will wear those tee shirts, it really IS something wonderful! Ginny

  15. Oh Deedra!
Can you post some pictures of your "son" for all of to see. I have a lump in my throat I'm so happy for you!
    Lori
Can't wait to see you HM!

  16. Yes Lori, I'd love to share a pic. I'll check with Tracy on how to do that. There is an older picture of the whole family on the last page (I think the "about us" tab) of the www.klipzon.com website. It's an older picture from when our little one was only 11 weeks old. At the time he wasn't making any eye contact or responding. We weren't sure he was going to ever be able to have any response ever. Now he is running around after his two older brothers. God is good!

So I always feel like I need to share something interesting professionally after sharing too much personal...soooooo let me think....

First, nothing about me, but I have talked with 2 people who are involved in this week's episode and both has said with GREAT emphasis that there is going to be something significant that happens. I think someone posted "real life drama." I can't wait to see what that is!!! :)

    Still thinking....

Maybe no one will find this interesting, but I'll still post it as a tidbit. During all the filming I never had anyone help with my hair or makeup. No one ever styled my hair or put on my makeup. I was responsible to take care of that. I did at one point beg the makeup lady to give me some gloss. She agreed but did it quickly so no one would see. Those who did get hair and make up and constant touch ups looked AMAZING!!!!!! I felt a little plain jane at times, but then I'd look in the mirror and see that awesome klipzon and say hello gorgeous!!! :) Hee Hee

    3 days to HM!

    Deedra :)

  17. Deedra, Do you mean to say, they helped some of the girls with make-up but didn't help you? Or did they just do the staff? I think they wanted you to look like anyone off the street can use your product and have a transformation from fly away hair to well groomed and looking amazing with no make-up. I wish you well!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Deedra,
Thanks for the tid bit, I tried out in Chicago and I'm being "considered" for season 2. I appreciate any tidbits you have to offer. Any season 2 scoop? Love the Klipzon, I have 3 girls (and 1 boy) love the look of the headbands, but yeah, headache city! I like that it looks like a scarf in the hair, a little glamour! Hope to see you on. I have totally enjoyed watching, and tweeting. Product developers and business pple should be learning a ton from this show!
Hope to see you selling your klipzons soon!

Tracy, love the new look of the blog, mellow and sophisticated ☺

  19. Yep, from what I remember the 4th episode should have drama for sure. Wishing the show would never turn to that kind of scene like other reality shows... but I believe this particular episode may have some drama difficulties. No worries, at least there are rock steady calmer forces involved. Ahhhh, the twists and turns of life sometimes just can't be avoided.

  20. This is soooo exciting. I can't wait. It is getting to be quite the Friday night ritual.

  21. Meaning, the Talent got hair and makeup....as a contestant I did not. :)

    Deedra :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow Deedra,
Once again that infuriates me that they would do that to you guys. I mean camera lighting/studio is very harsh and needs to be treated as such for all of the people on air. I'm not at all surprised. Sounds like the egos couldn't allow the common inventor folk to have pive to the Queens entitlements.
All I can say is YUK, Kelly and staff I hope you read this.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree...that's pretty bad. It just seems plain wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The inventors were the reason for the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MOney and fame can make some people UGLY.

  25. HEY!!!!! BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

I just got an email from someone who doesn't work at TLC or Milojo telling me that they heard that the episode that I'm on Dec 17 is now being moved to air at 12 noon.

I guess I need to confirm this and soon!!!!!

Hummmmmmm, wonder why that happened. Wonder if the other episodes are changed....

Still can't wait for Friday night! :) Good drama always makes your life look easier! :) That's why I always enjoyed Jon and Kate plus eight. Even with the drama, I was inspired by someone who didn't just flat out lose it completely with that many kids all at that age....I'm sure I might not have been as strong?....

Anywho. Interesting news I think. What do YOU think?

    Deedra :)

  26. I just checked the TLC website. It's true. HM is on at noon. Another show about helping hoarders is on in the 10pm slot. Who knows...maybe noon is a better slot!!! :)

    Deedra :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. What?? No more HM on Friday nights (after this week). I don't think it will quite have the same push for people tuning in the next morning for the winners pitch on HSN. Being on the night before I think works for that; don't know that a noon airing will have as much effect on HSN followers the next morning. Is this a bump down for HM before it's bumped off. That really stinks! I thought it was taking on momentum. I don't think noon is a better slot. Do you Deedra? Really? Or are you just trying to remain positive. Sorry about these changes. If they still run the lead in to HSN after the hoarders show maybe HSN will get a great following after all hoarders do buy things. (Sorry bad attempt at humor.)

    Tracy,
In case I haven't said it ever - I absolutely love your wearyourmanners idea or rather idea that lead to a product and I am glad to hear you didn't actually axe it. I think someday it will be picked up by a big name line with the smarts to see it for all it's awesomeness. Just say'n. :-)

  28. Falls in line with TLC and Kelly Ripa's lack of communicating with their contestants. The word pathetic comes to mind.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi, ladies and Tracy! Wanted to let you know there's a new blog post over at www.welladjustedorsotheysay.blogspot.com and...

WHAT IN THE SAM HILL!!! Noon on a Friday?? Okay the glass half full girl in me is going to attempt to think positively about this.

Better make sure my dvr is still set accordingly.

  32. I think Deedra meant her particular show. I think they are doing it because Deedra said that hers was one of the first filmed and didn't follow the current format. I bet they are airing the first format episodes earlier in the day so that it doesn't confuse the watcher. Plus the Holiday season most people are at Christmas parties, etc..... What do you think of that theory ladies?

  36. Hi, Ladies...I just checked out HSN's "reviews" for Jennifer's Magic Dress and so far it's a 5 star! There are only two reviews just now and the reviewers sound like HM supporters (anyone here?), but no matter...it is wonderful to see that kind of loyalty and support! I hope ALL the reviews that come into HSN for the Magic Dress are as glowing! Ginny

  37. Of all episodes to change times it is Deedra's!
Hurry up and debut Deedra on HM so I can relax!

Remember that shows get bumped around all the time while the network tries to find the "right fit" for the program and audience. I believe the show "Friends" was set to be canceled and look at how successful that show was!Only time will tell, I guess...

Looking forward to tonight...I am back in Florida so it'll be nice to sit down with my Husband and check it out. Yes, my Husband...he likes seeing the show so he knows what the heck I am talking/blogging about all week! :)

  38. Tonight, tonight..... (yes I'm singing a Westside Story song!)

    Can't wait for the drama!!!

Here's a tidbit: The episode I was one was shot soooooo much differently than the episodes that have aired. I think episode 6 was done the same way as mine.

Another: Kelly Ripa said, after trying on The Klipzon Headband "It's so easy to put on!" I just wish I had my flip video running at the moment. PLEASE let that NOT be edited out!!! :)

Has anyone seen any new promos for episode 5? I'm still watching for it....

    TOOOOOOONIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!

  40. BREAKING NEWS..... (I just got the call 2 mins ago)

After tonight, HM will no longer be shown on TLC. Hopefully (if it doesn't get all together canceled) you will see my episode and the last episode on Discovery Health Channel on Friday at 10/9c.

You will not see tears from me....it was all a journey that I believe has a purpose beyond what I knew I could imagine.

I just look at it as being on the soon-to-be Oprah Winfrey Network. One step closer to that dream.....

    :)

Love you all. Thanks for your support!

Listen, I am SO sorry your show will not be airing like the others but I really commend you...we can all learn from your "no tears from me" attitude! Thank you for being so wonderful and I look forward to watching your journey continue to unfold!

  44. Discovery Health, who watchers that? Utt Oh!
O.k. now as a contract holder I do have some tears! Guess that wasn't my big break again!
    Lori

  45. I think if the inventors of each show bond together, get out there and tell people who they are and why, it would make a difference. They would gather much interest because these are dreams of so many individuals. Doing so may draw more attention than TLC ever attempted to do. Real people reaching for that golden ring and trying to start new businesses. THIS is a story that I would want if I were a news organization or a talk show. It is a fantastic motivativational story and it should gain momentum. Never say never ladies!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lori, Maybe if the show get's canceled HSN will contact those whose products they would like to sell. After all after holding us up for a year and a half, it would only be decent of them to set us up with something. I can't believe after all this time they would just say, "Too bad".

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hi Tracy, we need a hint on what is in store :)

Also check out the profile I did on Leslie Haywoods Grill Charms... http://foodbeverage.about.com/.

    All the best!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I sure hope you are right about that. When I asked Christina if i could have the buyers name at HSN she said that she couldn't because there was still a chance for season 2. Maybe you're right but I'm not holding my breath the way everyone has been treated.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I can't believe Kelly would leave us flat. I think she might just hook us up with a one shot chance at a pitch, at least a 2 minute one. What would it hurt? It wouldn't cost them much to just have 1 or 2 people view each of us for a day. We'd have to pick up the tab for transportation of course. They have more to gain than loose by doing that. Don't forget, these products have been selling out.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well my glass is half empty on this one since Deedra had to beg for lip gloss. Like she is gonna help us out for one minute.

My fiend years ago had a house for sale in Conneticut that Kelly and her husband looked at. She said they were rude and acted almost uneducated. She said her husband seemed dumb as a rock. Hee Hee and least he is good to look at.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hey, I just thought about it... Wasn't Deedra sick when she invented kilpson? We're the others?? Maybe the next 2 segments are related to health issues.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You know, now that I'm thinking about it. Maybe it's the Holiday season. HSN has to bring in the sure $$$$ makers for the holiday season. Maybe thay can't take a chance on a new product. O.k. I just refilled my glass.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't think there is any need to call names here. She has helped the ones who made it this year. I just wish I was one of them. And I wish I was dumb as her husband is. I wouldn't be at their beckon call.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I didn't call names just telling you what my friend said. And they were rude for no reason.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Your right I should have kept my friends comments to myself. I'm sure they are both amazing people, I mean look how much they have accomplished. ISn't Kelly on a $0 million dollar contract right now.

I just wasn't prepared for how rude we were all treated throughout this whole process, still stings but I'll get over it real soon.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I mean 40 million dollar contract. Must be incredibly talented and smart to have pulled that one off.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Here's what I learned.... It is not uncommon for shows to end before they finish out. I am hoping that it will air on Discovery Health next Friday, and who knows what could happen from that! Maybe even more than if it aired on TLC! We will see.

I will say one thing. I couldn't help but hate Kelly Ripa....because there was NOTHING to hate about her! She was kind, enthusiastic, sweet, funny, and so fit!! (I wanted to run right out and buy some Spanx after hanging out with her.) One thing I really remember was how she and Mark were standing together talking about their kids and what had been going on that day. Normal, concerned, involved parents sharing with another parent. I didn't have a moment of doubt that she wanted the best for me in this journey. I wish it would have gone better for her.

Some businesses are a BIG hit, some are not. Same thing for TV shows. I'm just hoping that Klipzon will be one of the hits! And if not, I got to meet wonderful friends like you.

Now....off to finish off dinner dishes, put 3 little boys in a bath and try and get them to go to bed early so I can enjoy an evening of relaxation, hot chocolate, fuzzy slippers, and what should be some GOOD DRAMA!!!!!

    Cheers girls!

    Deedra :)

  58. Okay, ladies...I know everyone is disappointed. I, too, was a potential for a hypothetical Season Two. I can't say that I was ever terribly hopeful, though. I think that Kelly's original concept for the show was filled with all good intentions but probably got diluted and vastly changed over the course of time. By the time TLC and HSN got their hands in the mix, the show's original premise had most likely changed dramatically in the name of "entertainment." I wouldn't be surprised, with that many chiefs, if the show is finished off because of "creative differences." It happens all the time. Let's face it, this is not an easy show to put together for a myriad of reasons. I'm proud of Deedra (even not having seen her show). She is a class act. I've always believed in her product - probably because I'd definitely buy it and would welcome seeing it in the marketplace. Beyond that, I'm proud of her for her ability to roll with the punches - and to do so with such grace. And I sure hope I have an opportunity to see her do her thing - whatever channel it is on! Ginny

    ReplyDelete
  59. I once had a friend who used to be a real fan of All My Children. She lived in the city and would sometimes wait outside when the show's cast members came into the studio or left the studio. I remember her telling me that everyone was so friendly - except Kelly Ripa who would never pose for a photo and was completely stuck up and rude. This friend had no reason to lie. I'm just say'n.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I also have a friend that knows Kelly very well. In fact, he sits in as a host. Well he took my friends product to personally show her and she WAS TICKED!!!!!!!!!!! She wouldn't even talk to him about it. I know she has so many people trying to get ideas to her but this guy was a co host and friend of hers. You would never guess by her persona on the tele.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I can imagine that all that power and fame is intoxicating. Probably makes people change.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Kelly should stick to her day job but one thing is for sure, inventor shows do not seem to be catching on or sticking around. I think Tracy and many others here were right. No season two. Season one couldn't even finish. I'll call a spade a spade the show is boring but I do feel bad for all of the people who got there hopes up. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Deedra,
Was she really kind? She wouldn't even send over her makeup people to you all day?
I know you would never say anything remotely bad about anyone but geez....

    ReplyDelete
  64. I will answer every single question anyone wants to ask (although I doubt that there will be many) after the show airs, but I'll sortof answer your question now, Anonymous...YES. She was absolutely at every moment she was with me so very kind. Super friendly. Very down to earth.

Now, my episode was filmed quite differently than the ones you have seen. I had ALOT more time with the crew than it seems the ladies you have already seen had. Kelly wasn't with me as much as she was with them. She wasn't there to direct makeup people. It wasn't a big deal.

I will tell you...one of the other contestants, Grace, didn't get makeup either....but BOOOOOOY did SHE ever look AMAZING!!!! She's gorgeous! I bet she never even thought about begging for lip gloss!

    2 hour countdown....

I did read about Grace. What a brain. She has many patents in the medical field.

  72. HOORAY for Sarah! Another HM has sold out! What an opportunity! Hopefully they can rethink

    ReplyDelete
  73. In my opinion. There will be a season 2 and there are some sour rapes on this site. Kelly had a has good intentions for the girls. What not to wear got moved also. It happens all the time. No worries. Good Luck Deedra these products are selling out and it is a win, win for all involved.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Dee,

So excited for you! You look great on the promo. Love both of the other ideas too. Tough competition for ya. So do you know if with the time change they will still have the winner on HSN the following morning?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Mary, There is no time change, it is a channel change to Discovery health. At least that was the last I heard. Still 10:00 PM

    ReplyDelete
  76. Last night I was viewing the show with a friend of mine and he said, and I quote, "One thing for sure, It doesn't seem like this is an hour." I agreed. This show keeps you in suspense throughout the whole show and time flies by!

    ReplyDelete
  77. How many more shows will there be if the show continues?

    ReplyDelete
  78. There are two more show. the trailer for both are on the TLC website. although they were both rescheduled first for noon on fridays on tlc, now it's back to 10pm on discovery health. still haven't seen any adds saying for sure it will be on, so maybe cancelled?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Holy ironies, Kelly Ripas product, Homemade Millionaire is like all of our product development stories, the ups the downs, the in the no-you-aren't. I think this show is very interesting not only does it show how hard it is to create, SELL, (our products and ourselves.) but also to endure a lot of criticism...Whatever that doesn't kill me...(K. West/Neitzche ☺) I so loved HSN creating the fabric and loved loved loved the Good Housekeeping segment where they tested products.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Why oh why did they feel compelled to do the same-old-same-old reality television formula: Three "contestants," narrowed down to two. Then the inevitable challenges and the panel of judges deciding the outcome. It is boring and predictable and smacks of scripted outcomes. This show could have been SO much more than that. I really believe it is an inexcusably lazy way to "create" a show - it constitutes a formula encompassing absolutely nothing unique or unexpected. I don't believe any of the women dealt a kindness in being pigeon-holed into this inflexible concept, nor do I believe - sorry to say - that the best products were necessarily the winners every time. Sorry, but that's my take on the show...and, from the feedback I've received, I'm not alone in this assessment. Still, congratuations to the winners and to ALL the ladies who worked so hard and deserve our respect!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I do agree with Anonymous about the show concept.

How cool if it really was a human interest story...let's take Deedra for example (hope you don't mind Deedra)...I would have loved to see more about Deedra's life and what it takes to get a product to market. From what I know of her here, there are a couple of serious, personal stories that really could have connected her to the audience. When there is such a good idea for a show but it's replaced with a cookie cutter concept, it boggles my mind. There will be a new post shortly.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I agree, Tracy. And the reason I'm so surprised that more of the personal stories were NOT touched on is because, as a contract holder, each time I was contacted by an AP, I was asked so many questions about who I was, what my experiences were, where I worked, how my invention was derived and about my children, etc. In short, my personal backstory. I was also informed that part of the show would include a visit to my home. Absolutely none of those things have pertained to the finished HM. That's why I belive that Kelly's original concept may have fallen by the wayside in favor of this less-than-creative format. I think that's unfortunate - for the ladies and for the viewing audience. Case in point, aren't we all left wondering what inspired these women and how their journey unfolded? The show may have touched on these points very slightly in some cases, but I know that I would have loved to learn more of that. I'm thinking especially of Deedra here...abd if Deedra's story is compelling, I'm sure a lot of them are as well. Ginny

  84. Tracy!!!! I'm so happy to come by your blog (to catch up) and see this. This makes me smile and it really makes me want to work on my own thing, to not give up and just reinvent myself more. Awesome. I wish your future well. :D
