Kindness of others

Remember the three things Jason told me I had to do to move forward with Product X? Find a manufacture, set a wholesale price and a retail price.

Well, I was totally stuck on finding one of the items...I have vloged about it several times, and it became somewhat discouraging trying to find this "needle in a haystack." That is, until I happened to stumble upon a small company that sold this mystery piece in the US.

It was a bold step but like my Mom always says, "You have to ask for what you want", so I contacted this woman and asked her if she would please  tell me the name of the manufacture that made this item. By her doing this, it would mean that I would not be purchasing them from her (to save money) and sometimes people are funny about giving away "free" information.

I would like to note that if anyone asked me where I purchased my blank tees for Wear Your Manners, I was always happy to tell them American Apparel. I like helping others out, you know?

Well, I was THRILLED that this nice lady gave me all of her information of where to purchase my "needle in a haystack" and I could not be more grateful! Now I am able to cross one "to do" off of my list and move forward with Product X.

I will never forget this woman and when I can, I will sing her praises for all to hear!

The moral to the story...you may want to keep things to yourself and think, "I worked hard for what I have" but to share your experience, advice and precious information can truly be life changing for someone else.

  2. I must be feeling chatty today :) Jen C. posted this on her FB page and I thought it was worth repeating...

Reposting my good friend Ro's thoughts - very true! "There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama & the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, & focus on the good. So, love the people who treat you right. Forget about the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy!"

  3. For the reader/viewer that has a MAC and can not view my vlog, my computer guy asked, "I didn’t have any problems with the video, so find out what Mac they’re using, what OS version and what Safari version."
If you have that info, let me know and I hope this helps!
    Thanks for reading/watching!

  4. I can't wait to see your product and hear about this angel who helped you along the way. Fantastic.

Mary and I wound up on the same blog at Edison Nation. We both should find out if we are in the finals of the latest search in the next few days. It was fun to see her there after getting to know her here. :)

Looking foward to the next vlog.

  5. Morning Deedra,
That's cool that you saw Mary on EN! I will be posting a new vlog shortly...

  6. Totally agree about sharing information! I think the more you put out there, the more you get back (so cliche, said a million different ways, but so true).

Also wanted to say - very cautiously and hopefully without jinxing myself - that Grime-Out is currently in Stage 5 of Edison Nation... (i.e., no green check mark on the 5 yet...and hopefully no red x). I think some of you have gotten this far as well?? Should I be excited?? I really don't want to be excited because then I might be really disappointed!

OY. Hope everyone's having a great day - I did blog today about Gram, since we haven't heard from her in a while :). www.welladjustedorsotheysay.blogspot.com

  10. To all contract holders of HM: I am a friend of one of the many contract holders of HM. (Throughout the start to not so finished process)- I have listened, given support, and now I need to support my friend and others like her an entirely new way. EVERYONE SINGLE CONTRACT HOLDER needs to CALL every single contact name from Discovery, TLC, HSN, and Milojo that you have. You have all waited so long and have incredible products that deserve to work for YOU! CALL CALL CALL and get the answers you so desire and should be respected to have. It was difficult to sit quietly for so long and I care too much for my friend and the future of her product. She has a wonderful family and they should have the security of a great family business. DON'T LET ANYONE STOP YOU FROM PURSUING WHAT IS YOURS!!!!! Thanks for listening and only the very best to each of you.

  11. So yeah the selection process is for all practical purposes complete over at EN for the EE S4 casting and although I so wish I could be typing right now that I have been selected and am now nervously picking out what to wear and fine tuning my pitch. I instead am writing to say nope, notta, not selected. This was the last email we got last night from EN about EE:
If you are selected for Everyday Edisons from the Insider Open search two things will happen: 1) we will contact you and 2) you will be moved to G7.

Just being moved to G7 does not mean that you are on the show since it is not a search dedicated to the show.

If you are not contacted by 5pm EST today, it is highly unlikely that you have been selected. There’s always a chance that we may pull a last-minute idea out of the Open Search but it’s unlikely.

Gotta love that last line. Did anything else register? Not really, just the chance that, oh just maybe, they may pull one more idea out of the search last minute. All kidding aside though, hey it was a long shot anyway. There were so many entries, kinda like the American idol auditions of the inventing world. I will persevere though and although I would be lying if I did not say I soooo wanted this opportunity I really don't have time right now for this with my daughters wedding and all so I will keep coming up with wonderful solutions to everyday problems and may be someday someone will run with one of those wonderful ideas. :-)
And Deedra you didn't say if you were on your way to Charlotte NC or not?? Sorry Jen that Grime Out got out.

  12. I as a contract holder, I have called and wrote and to no avail! They are holding us hostages. They should be ashamed of themselves for putting us and our families through such financial and emotional straits! Especially in this economic climate. We worked so hard to get as far as we did only to put our faith in their hands. BIG MISTAKE!

  13. So sorry for you contract holders. Wow that infuriates me the way you all are being treated.

  14. Mary, I am sorry EN did not work out for you this time...I hope you keep trying and pursuing your dream!
And to the contract holders...I don't even know what to say except, I am sorry that this has been such a long and frustrating process for you all!

I am recording a vlog tonight and will post in the morning.

Anyone watching OWN search for the next show host? Like I said, I think the curly haired girl is going to win...can't remember her name...

  15. Contract holders, you have MORE POWER THAN YOU THINK! Start blogging everywhere you can about the treatment that has happened to you and your family's future dreams. I've been watching this from the sidelines, my profession is law and you need to speak with your own counsel! I agree with the above posted anonymous, CALL CALL CALL all of the parties involved. Continue to call and call again until the phones are ringing off of the hooks! They need to supply you with answers and should NOT HOLD YOU UP FOR ANY MORE TIME! Contract holders unite and CALL YOUR LAWYERS! What a powerful message you shall send.

  16. Wasn't Homemade Millionaire supposed to HELP women inventors? It looks more like Homemade Millionaire has HURT them instead. How can Kelly, Mark, the judges on the show and HSN put their names and reputations on a show that sounds like it has devastated the inventors????? Wow! Should we begin a BOYCOTT AGAINST Discovery and TLC for the awful treatment that has been apparent for some time? Terribly shameful behavior. It's so true anonymous above, inventors UNITE and DO NOT GIVE UP!

  17. I am a contract holder. Mine had a date on it and an option for TLC to have first right of refusal for another contract after a year's time. They did not renew so I understand that my contract has ended. If this is not how your contract is I would tell you that your best bet is to go see a lawyer. Blogging and boycotting is not going to help you. In fact, trashing a company is just going to make other companies not want to work with you in the future. So if you can't relax and continue your inventing....GO SEE A LAWYER. GO. SEE. A. LAWYER.

  18. Mary!!! Sorry you didn't make EE. But, guess what!?!?!?!?!?......YES, I didn't make it either!!! :) :) But what a great experience. I'm going to enter again. :)

    Tracy.....ooooooooooo Tracy.......where are you?????
