Three times a charm (hopefully)!

Last week Anthony Sullivan (Sully) tweeted that Pitchmen was looking for ONE more product for Pitchmen.

I sat at the computer chuckling to myself and thought, "No, I'm not doing this again" but you know me...if I don't at least try, I will regret it.

And what's the saying? Three times a charm, right?!

So...I sent over my video pitch for The Everything Marinator (it's a new, improved one) to Sullivan Productions and got the tweet, "We got it"!

Now I wait again but funny, waiting gets A LOT easier when you do it over and over and over again!

Deep breath...

I would have loved to have pitched it in person - there is SO much to say about The Everything Marinator and I'm so passionate about it - but who knows...maybe I'll get that chance!

The lesson here is...once again...try try again...

If you would like to send in a video pitch, go to www.twitter.com/kingsully

  4. Okay so count me in too! Different idea though than any I have shared with you Ladies. I am feeling good about this cuz it fits all the criteria for infomercial success. Just hope Sully agrees. Thanks for the heads up Tracy. It'll be great if he picks one of us Ladies from this blog. The rest of us can do the live vicariously thing. That's always fun too. BTW - Lidz-on Cookware System is being presented to the retailer today!! Retailer is Preto. Prayers please.

  7. Hi, Tracy...if you go to Yahoo News today, there is a great article on Oprah's search for a new show host and what they are looking for. She is doing this in partnership with Mark Burnett and he makes some interesting points about thoughts behind the selection process. Frankly, Tracy, I think that you would qualify on all counts! Read it! And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to cast another few votes! Ginny

  12. Oh Ladies,
I need some venting time. I have had such a long last two days. What started out as a little project of editing my video to send thru a twitter link to Kingsully turned into a huge nightmarish pain in the tushy. I thought I would just splice a couple different videos together to submit the ultimate 120 sec. video I could. But from the moment I posted last on here I have been in a constant battle with my computer and believe it or not the explanation is so involved that even I admit it is too long and complicated to share. One of my battles though was I could not upload to Youtube. (Although I do not consider myself a novice I have three other youtube videos.) It was just battle all the way. I finally found a way to load it on facebook and share it to twitter through fb. Problem being - to actually view it one must have a facebook account. At this point I'm hoping that Sully has a facebook account and will be able to view my video. So much for going for the nonintrusive approach. UUGGHH! It's just been exasperating. A less stubborn individual would have taken this as a hint that maybe I shouldn't do this. But noooo me I saw a challenge that had to be overcome. And well I really think (if Sully even views my video) it actually has a very good chance. Wish I could know for sure that he received and viewed it. Oh well, I move on. Thanks for the ear. :-)

  13. He does have a FB account so hopefully he'll see it! Let us know!

  14. Hi! Stumbled upon this site and like it. Very good info. I'm twitter challenged so do u think pictures and maybe a video sent to Sully's production company would suffice? Or maybe take my time and wait for season 3? I have no idea how to upload a vid to sully's twitter?
    Thanks

  15. Ladies,
Apparently in all my struggles I changed my google account log in. (Told ya it's been rough). That post by luvinventing was by me Mary S. And yes I went running and searched Sully out on FB. And I found like you said Tracy (and thank you by the way) yes he does have a FB account. I also asked in my tweet that he please leave a comment so I know he has viewed. So ugh. Now to catch up on what didn't get done while I obsessed.

  16. Poor, Mary! What a day you've had - I hope all that diligence pays off favorably for you! I had meant to post wishing you a happy birthday on the 6th. Hope you had a wonderful day! And how did things unfold yesterday? Any news? (And, Jen, thanks for the nice comment above!)

  17. Anonymous, I know one lady that sent her video pitch to a producer at Sullivan Productions. Go to www.sullivanproductions.com and contact them there for the best email address. Good luck!

  18. (strumming fingers on desk)... Got brave yesterday and placed a call to Sullivan Productions where I spoke with a very kind girl also named Jennifer :). Didn't glean much new info other than they are "crazy busy" and Anthony is in LA on a very busy shoot this week. Hope we hear something soon!
Also - forgot to say thanks again to Tracy for allowing me to broadcast new blog postings here. This blog really is where it all started!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Just me over thinking things again but . . . ..
If Sully is very busy on a shoot in LA (BTW thanks Jen for sharing your inside info. :-) but if he is super busy then would it be real easy for a twitter link to pass him by? If I understand correctly how twitter works people tweet to you and if you don't notice and are getting the amount of tweets that I'm sure Sully is now getting it would be very easy for one to get lost in the sea of tweets. Right?

In other news - This is probably to soon to say but things still look good for Lidz-on. They updated the people who got out after the presentation and I haven't received a no so I think I'm still in the running. What does that mean exactly. You guessed it - Hurry up and wait. LOL Thanks for all your well wishes Ladies.

  20. So if I'm too late for Pitchmen, any other ideas? I have a cute everyday storage invention for the home. I have contacted Plano Molding, they make the inexpensive stackable storage shelving at walmart, you put together yourself. And then there's always Inventor Days at Telebrands. Other ideas appreciated.
    Thanks

  25. If I was the swearing type, you'd have to cover your eyes...
I followed up with Pitchmen (Please let me know if you further information regarding the EM) and the reply was, "Not at this time. Thanks"!
If you knew me personally (really personally), you'd know that I never really tell anyone when I get "rejected". I always find a way to skirt around it but here, on Product X, I am telling all of you because I want you to know that I feel that crappy feeling of being turned down just like the rest of you...BUT...I keep trying...and I hope you all are doing the same.
This news came just as I was getting excited about my new site that will replace The Go 2 Girlz so I'm going to focus on that (the positive) and say "Whatever" to the negative.
Now let's hope Jen C. gets a better answer than I did! :)
And Deedra, Good luck in Texas!

  26. Okay, so - the me that likes to over analyze these things notices something immediately! You said "let me know if you need further INFORMATION re the EM..." So maybe the information you gave them was exactly what they need and they just don't need anything FURTHER right NOW :) :) :)...hmm and harumpf.
I got nothin' on this end - will keep you posted if I hear anything.

  27. Tracy,

I just know that if you get contracted into one thing, it closes the door for something else completely. God keeps closing a door for you....and I just know that it's for a very specific reason. Can't wait to see where you become wildly famous and I can say "I knew her when..." :)

  28. Tracy,
This is slightly off subject. Were you DMing kingsully. I ask because the fact that you are getting back and forth dialog has me a little confused. Unless you were DMing then it makes perfect sense. Wish you had better news. So sorry to hear that.:-( Still not a fan of rejection. :-( You as usual have managed to put a positive twist on it though. :-) Thanks for sharing. You are an encouragement to me.
I was just on twitter and you tweeted earlier today: "Watching a few of the product pitches sent to @kingsully for Pitchmen Season 2...some are pretty good!" Where and how? I'm jealous. I'd love a peek at the competition. LOL Did you see mine? And what did you think?

  30. Tracy, like they say, you didn't fail, you've just found 10,894 things that weren't quite the best fit for you---YET. Look at any biography, Lincoln, Madonna, and you'll see the many rejections suffered at the beginning by all the greats- it's those that persevere that win. At least you got a response- I got nada from Sully. Probably cuz I don't have a video-yet.

Anyway, she keeps coming back and they like her, maybe not for the invention but her hutzpah, might lead to a pitchwoman gig. Just wanted to let you all know, maybe the invention might not get u going, but ur personality might.

  44. Hey Ladies,

Just a little update of what is going on in Maryland (not the State; just my little world). My Lidz-on is still under consideration. After speaking with some friends on the EN forums who were in other searches for 3 months then like a hot potato dropped I am trying to keep myself in check. Even if it is decided that they will pursue it. I understand that a lot has to happen between them deciding to produce a product and it actually making it to the market. So I'm focusing on my current entries in the "As seen on TV" (ASOTV) search that is being presented tomorrow. I have 4 different entries that all will either be dropped today or updated to go to presentation tomorrow. The thing with the ASOTV presentation is that it is more bang for your buck cuz it presents to 4 different Direct marketing companies. Exciting. I will keep you all posted if any of my entries make it to presentation day tomorrow and then I will update whether or not anything was chosen during the presentation. There is a double edged sword thing although you get more bang for your buck by presenting to four companies at one presentation with ASOTV searches there are more ways you could never make it to market even after they've decided to go with an idea. For instance they do a test infomercial and based on how well received the test is determines whether they ever fully bring it to market. So you could make it all the way thru production and having a comercial made and never actually launch. The plus if this does happen is that EN will give you everything and you can try to go it on your own. So as devistating as that could be I think if I made it that far I would definitely set up a website and try to make it. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's get thru today first and see if any of my idea even make it to presentation day.

Tracy - I'm with Dee go to Atlanta open audition. More exposure would be a positive thing. Might help more to see your show idea.

Deedra - Was your audition for the same contest that Tracy is in or was it something else with Oprah?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hey Girls, I would love to go to ATL but just can't but I am surprised they are doing call backs already from what I have read on their site - congrats Deedra!!! You must have knocked their socks off! :)
Great job Mary and good luck!!!

  46. Hey Deedra, was the Oprah call back for your headbands and/or was it your show pitch? What show idea did you pitch? So curious! :)

  47. Tracy I remembered something in Deedra's past posts and so I backed up and reread and she said something about her audition having to do with being an Author. Hmmmm. I wonder if it was a show pitch related to being an Author? Can't wait to hear from Deedra. Hmmm.

  51. Okay Ladies here's how it went down. I had for entries i the ASOTV search. 1 made it to G7 which means it gets presented tomorrow to 4 direct response companies. The product that made it is Lidz-on. This should prove interesting because it becomes a first come first serve thing if ASOTV wants it Presto has first rights of refusal. Hmmm. Now everybody play nice. LOL
Funny thing is the item I was the most excited about only went to R4 which was the lowest my others made it to 5. I really can see that other product as an infomercial product. Oh well go Lidz-on go!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Go Lidz-on! It is a product that makes such perfect sense to me!!! Fingers crossed! Ginny

    ReplyDelete
  53. Mary,
With Edison Nation, do you know what ASOTV companies are looking at your products? If so which ones? Do you need a prototype and pics and video to submit?
    Thanks and Good Luck

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey Anony,

EN has quarterly ASOTV searches and they say they deal with several Direct response companies and that they are different ones each quarter ut they do not divulge which ones they are. Don't know why? They highly encourage you to make a prototype and to send a video of you demoing the product. Or to make sketches of the product and send the sketches or to take pictures of the prototype and send those. But although it is highly suggested to send some form of attachment you can simply submit your idea. I guess in EN experience ideas are looked at more seriously when they have illustrations at the very least but a demo with a video makes your point very clear to the retailer.
    Are you thinking of entering?
And thanks for the well wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Okay Ladies,
Here's the latest with me. I am still holding at G7 with both Presto and ASOTV apparantly ASOTV does presentation "rounds" round 2 is scheduled for July 14 so I will remain G7 till then anyway.

But in the mean time I am posting a idea on Quirky. This is my first time putting an idea out there at Quirky. I have had to educate myself about embedding videos. By default I am becoming sooo computer savy.
In any case I want to ask you all if you wouldn't mind this coming week going and voting on my idea. On Monday I will post the particulars so you will know how to get to it. It's very easy to do. The way that Quirky works is they have a new contest each week and the most voted for idea gets made. Cool. Definitely worth a try I had a coupon and it was free! What a blessing!!
    Thanks in advance.
