I'm not quite sure where you heard the August 25th date. I am one who received - and signed - the contract. But I never was given a specific date. A recent communication (last week) with Milojo confirmed that after Labor Day and through September would be the likely commencement for callbacks which is the next step in the process. Am I missing something I should know?!
Anonymous, I'll have to check but I remember reading one of the past comments saying that the WI selected would know in 2 weeks which brought us to Aug. 25th. I am sure if you heard that last week though, it must be factual... Can you tell us what your product is?
Hi, Tracy! Thanks for the clarification. We'll see...the tentative schedule they provided said nothing like that. I had been concerned b/c I had a vacation scheduled for the week before Labor Day and I didn't want to be away if called upon to do something or be somewhere relative to the show. But I was told that my vacation timeframe would be fine so long as my contract had been signed and delivered...which it has been. This is a bit nerve wracking to say the least! I feel like I'm on call! However, I'm very grateful that my idea has been acknowledged and validated even if nothing more comes of it. I wonder if other inventors feel the way I do...sometimes I feel completely upbeat and optimistic about my idea and sometimes (admittedly, far more seldom) I begin to second guess myself and feel a total lack of confidence. I vascillate between self-doubt and a feeling of real possibility. It's maddening! Anyway, as far as my product, I am clearly more paranoid than most of you very smart and savvy fellow WI's! At this point in time, I prefer to keep it to myself for fear of jinxing myself! My luck has been beyond horrible for so long that I'm just keeping a low profile and not even discussing this with my close friends until - and unless - something comes of it. Of course I will share with you when the right time comes. Suffice it to say, I think YOUR invention, Tracy, is equally as good. I don't know what their selection process is exactly...but there are so many fabulous ideas just on this site alone!
I hope you'll see klipzon on HSN!!! Oh Jesus, please!!!! We got some bills to pay!!! But, if I had heard anything, you all would be the first to know...after my hubby, my mom, my best friend, and...ok, then. :) My email, dated Aug 14, said that a producer would contact you in about 2 weeks. That would be the end of this week. Soooooo, we'll see!!!!!
EVER hopeful!! You have a great product. I am sure you will hear very soon! Hang in there - I'm thinking "about" may mean after Labor Day when vacation time, for most everyone, is done. Fingers are crossed for you!
Yes, I did have the contract with a note attached that said that they would let me know in two weeks (which should have been today). I did my hair extra nice, and put on my clothes instead of my pj's just in case they decided to ring my doorbell....... Just silence?????????Maybe that was an estimate? But I had a fabulous day otherwise. I meet someone today by chance that is personal friends with Aj Cubany. He knows Sullie Sullivan real well and has worked with him on and on. He has even gone to China with Aj for one of his products. He is a true pioneer in his field and knows everybody. Anyway, he has offered to help me in anyway he can, which I'm sure will help you ladies somehow along the way. I will keep you posted on this new and unraveling event!!!!! #3 contract
Good morning, Tracy - ladies :)...just wanted to say hi and ask you to check out the new article I just posted over at the Women Inventor Showcase www.womentorz.blogspot.com called "Tune Out, Tune In"... Would love to hear others share their stories or thoughts :)
Have a great day!! Get out there and talk to people - you never know who you might meet!!
"Women Inventor Showcase her blog it's MIA" My huband notice same yesterday and still same today, Jen C.you are in close contact any idea why Women Inventor Showcase MIA My husband needs his fix
I'm happy to know that this blog exists, thanks Tracy! I too have received and signed the contract. A letter and contract was sent to me July 9th, the second was July 15th (which answered several questions that I had). This whole experience is an exciting opportunity and worth the wait. Although I must admit the wait is beginning to weigh on me a bit! Recently I spoke with a lovely gal at Discovery and was told that callbacks would be mid-September. Keep the faith ladies, believe in your inventions, and keep striving for your goals... no matter what!
Mary and Tim! Thanks for letting me know...Melinda just changed the address by one letter so that it will match the website - try www.womentorz.blogspot.com and let me know if you still can't see it.
Hi, Tracy! Sorry, I was reading waaayyy too fast today. Please tell me you guys can see the blog now. Melinda just changed the 's' to a 'z' in Womentorz.
And Mary and Tim! I just had a 'doh' moment when I realized it's YOU GUYS!! Please tell us how your website is coming along and ALSO let me know if you would be interested in a link or banner ad on the Womentorz website!
It will be very reasonable, probably a flat monthly rate and Melinda is doing everything in her power to go big! Looks like she will be working with a pr firm that has connections with every major network in the country including the big "O", Today Show, etc...Melinda and I are dreaming of a media blitz :).
Feel free to contact me at pacnjac@hotmail.com if you have questions :)
Once again - Tracy is the conduit - Thanks Tracy!!
Like Anonymous who wrote above, my dates of communication from Milojo are identical. July 9th was the first email with contract attached - and it was followed up by another email offering further details on July 15th. It is SO nice to learn of someone else who has had the same experience! (And, YES, it most certainly DOES weigh on me, too!) It seems a long, long wait since the casting call in early June. Good luck!!
Hi everyone, I'm Sherry with Dips2go and I am really curious to know if anyone with food products were accepted to the show. Look on the comments on "who are you? to see my story. Its funny. I found the website late! It's wonderful. Sherry www.dips2go.com
Regarding callbacks, I too am wondering if everyone gets a callback. The way it was written, we are called a "semi-finalist" and the phrasing is that "notification of callbacks will begin in September." It would seem as though all contract holders would be called again, but I'm not really sure. Maybe not. I don't like to pester the folks at Milojo - so I prefer to sit tight to learn more.
There is a pool of contestants, the original 16 women and another group as well. In September it seems that all of the inventors should get a callback to understand where they stand.
Do you have any information about how we know which group we are in? For example, if you are someone that originally got a contract in July, does that mean you are automatically one of the 16? And, are the original 16 more definite shoe-ins for the show than the inventors that received their contracts in August?
It seems like that would be the order of things. Anyone receiving the contract in August sounds like the 2nd pool of inventors. The show needs a certain number of contracts to be secure that there is a show.
Hi, ladies! Just wondering...in view of all the recent realty TV personalities who have shown themselves to be highly questionable characters (criminals!), do you suppose that Milojo is performing background checks on those who have received and signed contracts? I would think that they would want to be very careful in light of recent events. Perhaps that is another valid reason for the wait?
Yes, in the paper work that they gave us it stated that they were proforming background checks, that's why we had to provide a ss#. Background checks only take a few days so that's not the hold up.
My product is a kitchen table idea too. I worked very hard to turn my prototype into a working product that is now ready for the public. Packaging is the next step.
My daughter has signed the contract and has a prototype. It is not a manufactured product. She was told at the casting call she would hear from them late August or sometime in September. I don't think the final decision has been made. I think things will begin moving after Labor Day. Good luck to you all!
Just wanted to let you know that I was told yesterday that production would start TUesday Sept 8th. That they are starting the "call backs" sometime after that. Hope this helps!! #3 contract
Deedra, I wonder if you already read the interview with Danielle Wilkinson, casting director for the show? It's online (you can just Google "Danielle Wilkinson" and it pops up). She was asked at interview what she was looking for in women applying for a spot on the TLC women inventors show and she gave all the expected answers such as personality and product, but she also sited specific examples such as "a woman who is losing her hair and invents a handband that will not hurt...is inspiring." I'm just paraphrasing her words, but I'm thinking that might be YOU to whom she is referring. Have you seen that article? The interview was done on June 18th. If it's YOU she is talking about - well, congratulations! You must have made a big impression!
Yes I saw that! I do think it was about me, and for a minute I was thinking...awesome! I'm in!! But then I thought, you never hear casting directors giving away who is cast before a show....they just give good examples of ok stuff that won't make it. Then I told myself to stop thinking and be glad that my story inspired at least one person. :)
I still haven't received any callback, so who knows at this point! I'm just thankin' God for the blessings I've got in my life right now. :) But, selling headbands on HSN....well, I'm up for that any day! :)
I think it could very well be a GOOD thing for you! But isn't the waiting awful? I try to put it out of my mind...but it just keeps popping back in - like an unwelcome guest! I'll post here when (and if) I hear anything. You promise to do the same, okay? In the meantime, let's continue to be grateful for the acknowledgement our products have received. That alone is very reaffirming. And, by the way, I LOVE your headbands and will probably be ordering one soon. It is a fabulous idea.
Hey ladies, I just came across this dialog...normally I check in with the last two blog post but happy to see you all have a place to keep each other informed! Is the is blog post you'll update us on or will you comment on a more recent post? I would just hate to see someone miss something b/c it's mentioned on a post from so long ago! I wish you all the best of luck!!!
I posted on the most recent blog 9-23-09 too. Yes, I received a call from Milojo today and had a long interview. Deedra, anonymous, and anonymous... it's your turn. Please let us know what's happening on your end. Best wishes to everyone.
