WI FOOD DRIVE

I am inspired my a previous comment on my blog about donating money at KFC to help the World Hunger Relief Fund, however, this food drive ends soon. But hunger is never ending.

Food gives us comfort but for a starving child or adult, food gives them hope. And how great to give a stranger hope!

So this is what I am asking of my Women Inventors. Raid your pantry, hit the two for one at the grocery store and fill a paper bag(s) with non perishable items to drop off at a church or food bank.

With the holidays approaching us, many grocery stores have brown bags pre-filled and ready to go - all you have to do is purchase one and the grocery store does the rest.

Once a week until the end of the year I am going to have my children help me pick out the food and hopefully teach them a life lesson of giving while helping a worthy cause.

Sadly hunger is worldwide but easily you can help right here in your backyard!

Let us know how many bags you have dropped off (anonymously if that makes you more comfortable) and I will keep a tally on the top of each blog post. Let's work until the end of the year to see how many bags we can donate.

Let the WI food drive begin!

  1. Ladies,
    Tracy,
You have reminded me how important it is to keep a good thing going. Our church has a pantry and a couple that are new members are on fire and they have breathed new life into our benevolence program. Our church family every year used to have a "give away" day. Kinda like a yard sale but free. We would collect and store useful items in a tractor trailer and then go to an inner city parking lot and have our give away day. Everything from furniture, to toys, & clothes, housewares everything useful. Well we did that for about 10 years and then somehow it got stopped. Well this new couple started it up again this year after a 5 year hiatus, and Wow it was a smashing success. We had a family come through who had been burned out of their home and now needed everything to start over in the apartment they had just got a week prior. They got a kitchen table and chairs, a couch, beds, a rocking chair, a TV, clothes and toys for the kids. They were so grateful. All we asked of those that came was that they register. And we gave away Bibles to those that wanted them. I worked the registration table and we made a little under 200 contacts that day. It was a great learning experience for my son who is 6.
It is so great when someone comes along and breaths new life into a great program like that we are so blessed this couple has come to us and reminded us how needed "give away day" was in our community.
Like that you Ladies have reminded me how easy it is to drop these good deeds from our everyday lives. When our food pantry program was active in years past when my now 19 year old daughter was little we use to check the church bulletin before going shopping and get the items for the week with our regular shopping and that was "her" responsibility. And now that Tracy has given me the much needed kick in the pants I am reminded that it is time to do that with Jack my 6 year old. And just make it a part of our weekly routine. Thanks Ladies. Even the least of us is so very blessed.

    HAND! (Have A Nice Day)

  2. Hey Tracy who knew that you would become a "pitchwoman" in a totally different way! I love it and I love the NEW VIBE this blog has taken on. I'm so glad that we are able to help others even if it is a few meals at a time whether it's local to you, or the so very desperate in other countries that need our help more than words can say.

  4. Hello, #9. I, too, received my fully executed contract today. Again, it is not clear exactly what to expect going forward, but I think we are getting closer. I have a feeling we'll learn more very soon. And congratulations #9! Hopefully we'll be meeting - and competing?? - with one another very shortly! I think I'll call myself #16 going forward - that's always been a favorite number of mine! Signed, #16

  5. Hey #16,
I have a feeling things are getting ready to roll. Can't wait to see what the future holds for all of us, one thing for sure is.....I have no idea what to wear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Ha! We women think alike, #9! With all that is at stake here, I've been struggling with the majorly important "What to wear?" question for quite awhile, too! Does that make me shallow? :-) #16

  7. #16,
Not at all shallow, just the most basic of all questions!!!!Ha Ha.
I was thinking, you know they had us sign an apperance release when we went to the casting, but what we got back was a signed complete contract(APPERANCE AND LICENSING) so I'm wondering if that could mean that we are going to have our products produced and sold. What do you think???? They could have just sent us the appearence form signed, do see what I mean.
    Congratulations to you as well!!!

  8. Yes, #9. I am feeling very positive about this and I do see what you mean. Another thing I'll share with you. I had made some minor revisions to my contract per my attorney...just a few things that made it read a bit more favorably for me but nothing really earth shattering. I'm so happy that they signed the contract with my revisions which leads me to believe that they are willing to meet me halfway and still have me participate in the show. At least that's what I am hoping. Again, I never count my chickens before they are hatched. I don't like to set myself up for disappointment. #16

  9. WOW, your brave since they made it very clear that they weren't likely to change anything. You know how great this will be to just get on the show!!!! The exposure will be great not to mention the doors it will open. Is your invention a prototype or were you already selling it and can you share what catagory it's in? Yeah!!!!!
    #9 :o)

  10. It is in the prototype stage only. I'd rather not say more than that. I hope you understand! I think the contract might be violated - or borderline violated - if I say too much at this time. I'll gladly chat about it later when I'm able. #16

  11. Hello #16 and #9!! I too received a executed contract on the 22nd! :0)

Did any of you get a call yet?? The ladies that got called did they send this to you first before the call???

Talk to you all soon!! #3

  12. Hello, #3. Congrats on the executed contract! The phone call I got was about 3 weeks ago from an associate producer and it consisted of 30-35 minutes of questions. I received the contract yesterday via email. Is that the phone call that you are referring to?

  13. Hi#3,
I never did receive a call, just the contract on the 22nd! So that's three of us so far. I wonder how many more? We're still kind of hanging out there without a definite but you would think that if they went to the trouble of having the PResedent and the VIce president sign it, that it would mean something more than we are just bringing you in to weed you out further. I hope this holds true.
    Have an amazing weekend all!

  14. Thank you #16 and #9 for the information!! If you look at the contract the president signed it at the end of August and the Vice President signed it in the beginning of September. They have had it signed for sometime. Who knows but it sounds good!! Congratulation to the both of you too! :0)

    Have a great night! #3

  15. Sorry #16 I never answered your question. Yes that was the call I was talking about. I never had anyone call me and ask any questions. I guess #9 did not get a call either. The good news it that we should be hearing from them soon!! :0) #3

  16. Hi #3,
Mine was signed at the same time as yours. I would just LOVE to know what the format of the show is.
How lucky we are that Tracy put together this blog so that we are a little less in the dark and can connect a little.
Tracy just wanted to let you know that the hungry have not been forgotten. I have started my brown bag but I need quite a bit more food in it.

  17. Yes. Groceries have been set aside for church donation today...and I'm going to see if my KFC participates in that fabulous program! This kind of giving must not be forgotten in our excitement about other things that may be going on in our lives - in fact, it is even more important to remember to give back now. Tracy, had you not provided this forum, I think I might have blown my brains out waiting and wondering in complete and utter isolation and solitude. We owe you a debt of gratitude. Thanks so much! Have a beautiful Sunday all! #16

  18. How wonderfully exciting!!!!!! I just returned home from a family getaway and have the goose bumps reading all of your comments! I bet the girls that received contracts had quite a nice weekend! :)
I CAN NOT wait to see you ladies on TV with your fabulous inventions and put a face to all of these #'s (very creative of you to think of that)!
Glad to know food is being set aside and the Women Inventor Food Drive is getting into full swing!
I twittered about it and it was forwarded on to thousands of people so hopefully lots and lots of people/children will have full bellies!
Enjoy your Sunday and keep us posted! Congrats!!!

  20. Hey Deedra,
What did you decide about HSN Canada? Didn't you say that a woman approached you at the PITCHMEN casting but that they wanted an exclusive? I haven't seen your postings for a while and wondered what ever happened with that? Did you receive a second contract. I was telling my best friend about it, she is a pharmacheutical rep, she said that she would wear your Klipzon everyday if she had them!!!! She said she would also buy them for her daughter. I know we will be seeing them all over very soon.
    take care,
    Lori

  21. Hey Lori! Must be someone else (I think Lisa with Bag Bundle) who had HSN Canada offers. I'm still working on just people in the US!!! :)

Yeah, I'm finding that Moms are wanting them for their daughters! Didn't realize the want in that part of the market. Learning soooo much....brain is overloading....need help.............

Oh, I'm just gonna stop thinking right now and grab some food out of the pantry to donate. :) Thanks Tracy. :)

  22. Deedra...

Handbands are SO in right now! And the fact that moms want them for their daughters makes so much sense(never would have thought of that either!) Another great market: women who undergo chemo treatment or who have otherwise thinning hair and need hair pieces and falls. You could market them to wig shops I left you a message on your site trying to connect about my daughter's bridal headband...did you get it? #16
